Hi all,
Having nearly thrown out the above scanner because the software would not load in XP. I scoured the web for an answer, in vain. I saw that many have had the same problem. Now that I have found the cure m( for me) i though it my duty to share the method of my success. Those who have had the same problem will know what I am going on about.
Assuming the scanner is hooked up to your machine and you have put downloaded drivers on to a CD. You can use the drivers straight from your download folder if you wish.
1. Get latest drivers form Web site (acardv141.zip, mirafotov2012_bqe.zip)
2. Start/control panel/system/hardware/device manager/SCSI and Raid controllers. Click to ACARD AEC-6710D SCSI controller (Win2000XP)
3. Right click to 'update driver'
4. On Mira disk unzip acardv141.zip then click Acard.exe.
5. Close Device manager.
6. In 'control panel add new software' Click on to Mira disk file 'mirafoto2012_bqe.zip.'
7. Click on 'Setup.exe. Then close.
8. Shut down computer.
9. Boot Scanner.
10 Boot computer.
Load slides press scan button. Choose your preferred Photo editor.
Well, it worked for me. I don't think I have missed anything.

Select Update Driver. If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you can try looking for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions. Reinstall the device driver. In the search box on the taskbar, enter device manager, then select Device Manager. Right-click (or press and hold) the name of the device, and select Uninstall.

User guide says to press F2 when the ACER logo appears. The ACER logo doesn't appear at boot. I've tried pressing F2 anyway but no biios screen. Also tried F12, F10, and Del.at boot. Part of my sysinfo is: System Name ACERDESKTOP System Manufacturer Acer. Drivers Scsi free download - CopyTrans Drivers Installer, Adaptec ASPI Drivers, Microsoft DirectX Drivers (Windows 95), and many more programs.
